Happy #MindfulnessMonday to you all! Today we want to bring attention to something that we know so many people struggle with, us totally included, and that is- the numbers game. In our lives, we let ourselves get caught up with and perhaps even stressed or sad about numbers, most notably those of age, weight, size and salary. And indeed, these are all significant numbers in our lives, but we cannot let them define us, or worse upset us.
Today we want to encourage you to think about how you feel. Do you feel joy? Do you feel youthful? Do you feel excited about life? Do you play? Do you feel mature? Do you feel settled? There is no right or wrong answer here, but it is important to acknowledge how you feel about yourself and your place in this world, rather than what you think you are supposed to feel or be at a certain age.
And same goes for weight. How do you feel in your clothes? How do you feel when you look in the mirror? Are you energized? Are you active? Are you healthy? Can your body take you places and help you do extraordinary things? Embrace your body for all it can do for you and all the positive attributes it possesses, and do not stress about a number on a scale or a tag. Easier said than done, true, so if you really do feel like it is important for you to be a certain number, then there are healthy ways to get there. But don't let that journey become one of torment and self-loathing. Work from a place of positivity and the road will be much more enjoyable and better for you all around.
And as for salary, we need those numbers to survive, but again, we cannot let it define us. Comparison is the root of much disappointment and we all have different goals and dreams for our lives. It may sound cliche, but if you work hard and commit to your professional goals, the numbers will come.
All in all, we want you to remember and be mindful that they really are just numbers. Look for your joy and light from within and then all the external rewards will be a bonus!
Good #MindfulnessMonday morning to you all! On this #MindfulnessMonday we thought we would share with you a list of some of the amazing and prolific women we follow on instagram who inspire us with their wisdom, grace and light. @GabbyBernstein aka the Spirit Junkie is a best-selling author, motivational speaker and life coach. She share snippets of her life as she travels to speak at various locations, as well as powerful mantras. It would be a hard to choose our favourite, but a recent post surely resonated with us: The people who piss me off are the greatest teachers. Life is always presenting us with opportunities to grow, we just have to take them.
@JanneRobinson is a poet, wordsmith, activist and Elephant Journal columnist. An unapologetic feminist, she shares major wisdom on what it means to be a woman in today's society, and a human being on this intense earth. A recent article of hers was titled, "Social Media is The Edited, Sugar Coated, Selective Parts of Our Lives". You can see it here. Makes us take a good look at ourselves and search for authenticity and genuine interaction.
@KatieDalebout is a Yogi, a Podcast Host, a Speaker and a Life Coach. Her positivity and energy radiate through all her posts; she inspires and fires us up. Similar to the article we mentioned from Janne above, a recent post from Katie that we liked read, "exist to be happy not to impress". Nothing is more attractive than someone who is happy in their own skin. (INSERT PICTURE)
@Yoga_girl, Rachel Brathen is always a burst of genuine emotion and love and light. She shares her life and her truth on instagram, which includes yoga, the beach, the ocean, her dogs, her husband, handstands, dances and smiles, and also heartbreak, tragedy and the struggle that exists within her and ultimately within all of us. She shares so much fuel for the soul, but her most famous is #yogaeverydamnday. Breathe, stretch, live, love.
@CaraDelevigne is an international supermodel. You may think she doesn't fit in with this list of yogis and life coaches, but she does and here is why: her instagram profile reads, "Don't worry, be happy! Embrace your weirdness STOP LABELLING START LIVING". She often posts uplifting quotes that motivate us to be ourselves and enjoy our truths.
We hope these profiles inspire you as much as they do us. Have a great week. Namaste.
What can we say? We just experienced the best place on earth. Disneyland, for forward thinking people from all walks of life in the form of a conference, called Wisdom 2.0. The conference brought together like-minded people to talk about the intersection of mindfulness and technology and how they both effect business in today's modern age. Our founder, Samara met some unbelievable people from all over the world and heard some unbelievably talented and insightful speakers from Jack Kornfield, to Byron Katie to Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn to Alanis Morissette. The energy created through this conference was palpable and the outcome overwhelming. Not only were we completed inspired by the outstanding speakers creating change in their field but by the individual 2,500 attendees, some of whom we got the chance to speak with and connect with personally. It warms my heart to see this community growing and affecting major change in the world. It solidifies the fact that what we are doing here at Mindfulness Matters is powerful and strongly aligns with our core value of being of service. With technology catching up to the teachings of mindfulness, these concepts are scaleable and becoming more accessible to the masses which creates a better and more welcoming environment for all of us to live in. We absolutely can not wait to get back to teaching and apply all the info we habe absorbed. See you next year Wisdom 2.0!
