Happy happy #MindfulnessMonday! This week is going to be amazing. Why, might you ask? Because we said so! Also because we just completed our Find Your Bliss retreat and are filled with so much love and gratitude. The community that came together this weekend touched us so deeply. We know we will be feeling the effects of this retreat for days, weeks and months to come.
This Monday, we want to talk about measuring success. So, we all know that goal setting is important and it helps propel us forward. And, setting big, huge even somewhat unattainable goals are amazing for challenging ourselves. But, it is important to remember to focus on the positives when doing so.
For example, let's say you presently run 5km in 30 minutes and you set a goal that by then of June you will run 5km in 26 minutes. You make a training plan and you stick to it. June 30th comes and you run 5km in 27:20 minutes. Did you reach your goal? No. But, are you now 2 minutes and 40 seconds faster and THAT much closer to your goal? YES! So, celebrate your success and know that your effort was not for nothing because you are now that much closer to getting where you want to be. As long as you are building and growing and moving in the right direction, you will get there.
We know that not hitting that target right on can be frustrating and discouraging, but a lot of it is how you look at it. Be kind to yourself, encourage yourself, know that all your efforts are worth it. Speak to yourself like you would speak to a friend (we are often much nicer to others than we are to ourselves). If your goal is to get from A to Z and you only get to T, you have come a LONG way and that is something to be proud of. So measure your progress and build on it. Focus on the positive and you will get those goals, eventually.
