Happy #MindfulnessMonday. So sorry we have not been around for a few weeks, we have just been busy because we are in a state of transition right now, and so we decided to make this the topic of this week's #MindfulnessMonday.
In life and on the mat, transitions can be challenging. They tend to throw us off balance and can be difficult to navigate. If you have ever tried to go from seated lotus to chatarunga, you know exactly what we mean!
In life, transitions can be hard to deal with because you can feel like you are somewhat in no man's land. For example, moving. Whether you are moving apartments, cities or even continents, the minute you decide to move you are basically in a transition. You start to think of the items you will take with you and those you will leave behind. You start to think about all the people you want to see before you leave, and the places you want to eat, and the classes you want to take that one more time before you go. Everything you do becomes a part of this transition.
Another example is when you change jobs. Maybe you are smoothly moving from one company to another, or maybe you are leaving one job to pursue another career path entirely. In all these instances there is a lot of unknown. Questions like where will I buy my groceries in my new neighborhood? How will I make friends at my new company? Where/how will I get my next paycheck?
This can all be stressful, no doubt. But it can also be a time of recognition and even celebration. A time to take a look back at where you have been and where you are going. It is normal to feel anxiety and unsure, and that's ok, but know that you will get to where you need to be. Your legs might get tangled together, your arms might give way and you can land flat on your belly. And then you can place your hands down into the mat, peel your upper body up and you will be exactly where you planned to be.
