I often get asked this question, and no, you don’t have to be flexible to try it! Vinyasa yoga aligns movement with breath and it improves strength, flexibility and balance. In power yoga, we are always moving, so a class combines the regular benefits of yoga with a killer cardio session. The sequence is always different so you are constantly challenging your body and pushing yourself past your comfort zone. The practice is meant to generate heat in your body so whether the class is in a heated room or not, you will likely leave behind a puddle of sweat and a load of tension. Our skin is our biggest detoxifying organ so through sweating and intense breathing, the toxins quickly expel from our bodies. Looking to lose those extra five pounds and tone up? Give yoga a try!
However, physical postures are just one part of yoga. There’s also meditation, philosophy and a bunch of other stuff. You don’t have to be spiritual, or even a nice person to try—but if you decide to take it seriously, your life will turn upside down. And it will be worth it.
