Happy Monday! How are you? For those of you in the U.S. we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. December starts tomorrow (wow, time flies) and we are excited that it is holiday time! But, with this time of year comes a lot of festivities that take us away from our regular routine and so on this #MindfulnessMonday, we want to take a few moments to talk about balance.
As the holiday events start, so does the eating, the drinking, the less sleep perhaps, and for many a whole slew of emotions. We think it is great to indulge this time of year in that chocolate peppermint bark and that extra glass of wine or two, but we think it's important to not allow these extra indulgences to throw us totally out of balance.
What we do to keep ourselves in our own sort of equilibrium is we are sure to take a few moments everyday to check in with ourselves and see where we are - are we feeling calm? stressed? excited? motivated? discouraged? Are we letting our life slip away from us at this time, or are we present? We can ask ourselves these questions lying in bed first thing in the morning, or last thing before sleep, or we can do it as part of an intention during our yoga practice, or even during our commute to work. The important thing is that we do it, that we check in. We are not looking for a right or a wrong answer. Whatever feelings come up, acknowledge them for what they are without any attachment or judgment. Allow yourself to be where you are and then decide where you want to go.
We wish you a beautiful week and an amazing start to this exciting time of year! Namaste.
We hope your weekends were great and that you are looking forward to the week to come, we know we are. So, with the success of Rave Yoga we thought we would share our Pop Princes this week. The guys get us equally, if not more, excited and always elevate our spirits. So, here are our picks:
1. I Want It That Way by The Backstreet Boys
To be honest, it is hard to pick one BSB song because they all bring us back to being 10 year old die-hards, but this one will always have us belting that chorus.
2. What Do You Mean by Justin Beiber
Ok, so yes the Beibs can be a little punk and we are unsure of the true meaning of the lyrics of this latest hit, BUT we can't help but get down when it comes on and we are always sad when it's over.
3. Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake
And the rest of the Future Sex/Love Sounds album. It's all just so good.
4. I Can't Feel My Face by The Weekend
We're just not sick of it yet. Gets our fists pumping every time.
5. Billy Jean by Michael Jackson
No explanation required.
6. Kiss by Prince
Because we all secretly want to be Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman rocking out in the bathtub with our walkman.
7. Bad Girl by Usher
Any Usher song is sure to give you #allthefeels but this one in particular hits the perfect sassy button in all of us!
8. All You Need is Love by The Beatles
The original "boy band" brought us the best of the best and this is one that always makes us smile and swoon.
9. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
The sentiment in this song is so beautiful we cannot help but be uplifted by the message.
10. This Love by Maroon 5
One of their first hits, this song holds a special place in our heart that makes us want to turn up the volume and sing along!
What are your favorites? Let us know! Rock this week out everyone, Namaste.
How are you? Sorry for our little 2 weeks hiatus there has just been a lot going on! This week for our #MindfulnessMonday, we wanted to share our favorite Pop Princess Pump Up songs. Why, might you ask? Well because while these tunes may not inspire the most in-depth thoughts or emotions, they do inspire booty shaking, arm waving and big smiles and those are as important as anything else, especially in time for Rave Yoga coming up this week!
1. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindy Lauper.
When you hear this jam, you can't not get a bop in your step and a grin on your face. It's physically impossible.
2. Spice Up Your Life by the Spice Girls.
Again, you just want to jump up and down when you hear this song and remember the days when Victoria Beckham was a pop sensation.
3. Schoolin' Life by Beyonce.
There is no question that the Queen is schoolin' life and while grooving to this song, you are too.
4. Dancin' in The Moonlight by Top Loader.
Makes you want to kick off your shoes and be barefoot and spinning, most preferably in the moonlight.
5. I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston.
The vocals, the beat, the message all come together to make your heart burst with excitement.
6. Shake it Off by Taylor Swift
No elaboration needed here
7. Slave 4 U by Britney Spears
Britney changed the game with this one and when you hear the beat come in on this classic you're with her in that sweaty warehouse and you're having the time of your life!
8. Glamorous by Fergie
You could be at home in your sweats, but this song comes on and you're boarding a private jet in your most dazzling duds.
9. Independent Women by Destiny's Child
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that, but now you do.
10. Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, Pink, Li'l Kim & Mya
This one also really requires no explanation.
Have any others to add? Tell us! Have a great uplifted week everyone. Namaste.
