Happy Monday everyone! We know, we know, Mondays are globally not viewed as happy, but the time has come to change that. Monday is the beginning of a new week, a fresh start, and we should embrace it. In an attempt to do just that today we are starting a series called #MindfulnessMondays, where we will share with you something that inspires Mindfulness in us to get the week started off well. It may be a yoga pose; a quote or a mantra; an excerpt from a book or poem; or even a recipe! The point is to bring attention to the moments, ideas or items that are around us that we are grateful for and that inspire us. If you have something that you would like to be featured as a #MindfulnessMonday, feel free to share it with me on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag and you just may see it featured here!
As our inaugural post, we are sharing a quote from the incomparable yoga guru, B.K.S Iyengar who passed away last week in India at the age 95. Mr. Iyengar, known as the Father of Modern Yoga, embodied mindfulness in all that he did and is famous for many important teachings. One that speaks loudly to us that we would like to share with you is:
“The hardness of a diamond is part of its usefulness, but its true value is in the light that shines through it.”
It is important to show strength in your practice and your convictions, but when strength is manifest in shadows, it cannot be appreciated. Your light will allow all your strengths to shine, so shine on!
Have a great week, Namaste.
