Good Monday morning to you all! We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are excited about the week ahead. For today's #MindfulnessMonday "My Yoga" series entry we are bringing you what yoga means to our friend Joanna Karpathiou. Joanna is a power yoga teacher at Power Yoga Canada Leaside as well as a Lululemon ambassador, restaurant owner and semi-pro hug giver. Jo loves to be moving (dare we call her a movement junky) and is happiest when she is barefoot and walking on her hands! Here is what yoga means to Jo:
Before finding "My Yoga" I was in pain. Mentally I was in a dark and angry place with no tools to overcome the anxiety and depression I considered normal. Physically, I was not honouring my body and pushing it past its limits without nurturing my health.
My yoga is self love and compassion. My yoga is mentally and physically nurturing. My yoga is getting out of bed in the morning when life seems impossible. My yoga is physically healing. My yoga is a practice. And when all these things start to feel impossible, I can access my yoga to find my way back without judgment.
It has taught me the power of vulnerability by finding my voice and the tools I need to share my story and be there for others.
Be kind to yourselves this week everyone and enjoy all the moments. Namaste.
