Happy Monday to you all! Today we want to talk to you about happiness. The Dalai Lama said, "happiness is not something ready made, it comes from your own actions". As we grow and mature, we are realizing more and more how true this is.
Often we think that happiness is something that people just have or just are. Or we think, if I have a boyfriend, I will be happy; if I get that job, I will be happy; if I lose five pounds, I will be happy. And sure, all those things can contribute to happiness, but first and foremost, happiness has to come from ourselves. We have to make a conscious choice to be happy, to choose happiness.
It can be a hard thing to do though, so we like to follow the Dalai Lama's lead and engage in certain actions that promote happiness. And these don't have to be big, huge major things. Actions that we take to promote our happiness are things like journaling, going or a run on a sunny morning, having coffee with a friend, practicing yoga etc. This can sound overly simplified, but sometimes in our lives we get too bogged down by obligations that we forget to do the things that bring us joy, and while all of our grown up responsibilities are important, laughing with a friend is really important too!
So, this week, we challenge you to take action, to do one thing every day that makes you genuinely happy. Whether that is getting a latte or watching an episode of FRIENDS, do it, and be present in your moments of happiness.
Have a great week.
